Moving along...

Here's a little update on window trim.

It is ALL officially painted and done!!!

I'm now painting baseboard trim and working together with Randy on the flooring. We installed the office and guest bath floor last weekend. This weekend we did the entire laundry room and most of the master bath. The 1/2 bath will be the only thing left for laminate flooring. I'll take some pictures this week after I wipe them up a bit. Everything is SO dusty.

After we install 527 linear feet of baseboards we can call the carpet store!!!
And the chiropractor!
And all our friends to come visit.
(Oh, I keep forgetting we have to hook up all the plumbing too. That may take a little time.)

PAINTING!...again

I've started painting the window trim!! Finishing touches always make it feel like the end is near.

As excited as I am to be painting, I'm ready for this day to be over and will look forward to a new day tomorrow. I think I sniffed a little too much paint. Here's a list of my mishaps:

1. Thought I was leaning on the window sill, but actually put my entire hand in the paint bucket.
2. After feeling the cold wet feeling of paint, I shrieked in terror and shook my hand frantically.
3. Frantic shaking of a hand covered in paint results in white paint splatters on all windows and walls within arm's length.
4. Tried a new trick my brainy husband thought up: instead of taping off the walls, hold a wide mudding spatula next to the trim and paint a clean line without touching the wall. This would require holding the spatula with my left hand and painting with my right hand.
5. That would require way more coordination than I have ever had.
6. After playing Twister on the ladder, I paused to do the dreaded taping.
7. Never try to tape next to wet paint. I now have more touch ups on the bathroom window trim as a result of taping.
8. Tonight was a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing. As the right hand was painting, the left hand was dumping paint down my pant leg. Note to self: Always keep the paint tray level.
9. I spray painted the corner pieces white (because painting them by hand is so tedious). The white soaked in completely and looked white-washed. So, I primered them gray and sprayed them white again. The white only stuck here and there. Now I have gray and white tied-dyed corners. Lovely!
10. I made a concoction for dinner that was very scrumptious using leftover halibut. That made me feel very smart after such a doofus day.

Oh well, I got the first coat done upstairs and the laundry done done.

Only a few more days until I can take a shower!

The master shower got grouted today and will be sealed on Saturday. I probably won't get a shower by Sunday, but maybe by Wednesday night. Even if we don't have the showerhead installed I could probably take the cap off the pipe you see at the top of the picture. Yes, I'm THAT anxious, NO I'm not THAT impatient!

There is a top shelf in each of the four corners. I hope I have enough stuff to put on all the shelves. ;o)

The bathroom space doesn't allow for a really good picture, but this might give an idea of one end of the "walk-in" shower. We'll finish the outside and top with trim...but I don't need it to take a shower!

Spring Fever

Who wants to mud and caulk when the sun is shining?! Not me!

I don't have much of a yard to work with this year, but I found a few things to do outside. The best part?... working in a tank top all day and I was still overly warm!

The transplanted star magnolia tree has buds! It now has its own "rockery" too.

I was able to resurrect half of my garden from the excavation demolition.

The kids worked on moving a mountain! They played all day in the dirt/mud.

It was a wonderful first day of spring break.

Addition update

Progress has been made! Electrical is done. We've moved onto window trim. Randy completed the downstairs and moved upstairs yesterday. Now I have a bazillion holes to mud, seams to caulk, and paint! That ought to keep me busy during spring break this week. Once the window trim is done, we'll move to doing the bare floors, then carpet, then move in. There's no date set for moving day, but at least we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The guest shower. We still need to trim out the top to give it a finished look. Oh yeah, and install the shower head and faucet! Oh yeah, and cut down the drain pipe and put a cover on it.
